Description:

In the 2012 election Lee County experienced significant voting delays, as did many other Florida counties. In an effort to stream line the process for voters and eliminate the need to wait in line to vote, the elections office hoped to increase the number of residents who could vote via absentee ballot, also known as vote-by-mail. The secondary goal was to register additional voters ahead of the 2014 election. This was done by mailing over 400,000 voter education packages to eligible voting age adults in the county. The oversize package which stood out in the mail, as well as the design and easy to read content plus multilingual format was credited with the success of the program.

Results:

Response Rate: 3.8% Customer Benefits: Significant increase in absentee ballot requests (vote by mail) as well as new voter registrations.
